Sunday, February 14th, 2010

I have had a head cold for six or seven days. Today it is considerably better, and I decided I was well enough to go to church. After church I went to Walmart and ordered some pictures off of Peg's CD of our fall 2009 trip. Then I stopped and picked up lunch at Long John Silvers.

Yesterday, Cassandra called. They had just opened the Valentines Day package I mailed them. Cassy wanted to talk about each item in the box and make sure that each person in her family got the exact items meant for them.

Last night, Christa called, very upset because she had been asked to leave work after she and Otilio had an argument in the restaurant. At the end of the argument (if I recall correctly) Otilio said that he wants to go back to Mexico. I think he is desperate for home and family. Later on, according to another phone call, they talked on the phone and both of them apologized for whatever happened. Christa was crying so hard, that I am not sure I got the exact details and sequence of all that happened. I have to try to get together with her this coming week.

Wednesday, Feb. 10th 2010

I am feeling a LOT better today. Its my fourth day of using Afrin, and it might be my last.
I think I still need a day or two to stay at home and rest up, but I might go into work on Friday.
But I might not, I desperately need to get my hair colored.

I asked Carrie's afternoon aide (Deb) if she would take Cassandra and Tylers Valentines Day package to the post office on her way through West Oneonta and she agreed to do that for me. So, it should arrive in time for Valentines Day. Its not much, its mostly books I found at FSA, a card for each kid and some small items, a package opener for Chris and a magnet that Megan made when she was a child.

The chili and corn bread I took out of the freezer will make a quick, easy and good supper for Carrie and I.

2/9/2010 and I am sick

I have the worst head cold ever. I took this week off from work. I hope I can return next week.
This is my third day using AFRIN. The ear nose and throat specialist said to NEVER use it more than five days.........so........if it does not start to clear up in a couple of days, I will have to make an appointment.

Week of February 1 through 5, 2010

Not an exciting week. I worked my two shifts on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday, there was an FDC advisor luncheon at Family Services. We had pizza and salad from the Undercover Eggplant. Its been cold, but no snow. Earlier today I spent some time with my friend, Connie, but that will go on MY ADVENTURES. I stopped by the Fiesta tonight to give Christa her birthday present from her Grampa Niethe. She said she and Otilio are not speaking to each other. I asked if they had a big fight and she said no.

Nothing special

Sunday the 31st I went to church and then out to lunch with a friend.

Today, I stayed home and did my FDC work, and a bit of housework.

Tonight on TV, I found a show I like AMERICAN PICKERS, about two guys who travel around buying up old stuff to resell. Eight p.m. Monday night on the History Channel. I hope I remember that next Monday. Its an interesting show!

Panzanella Stoup

Judy McAdams loaned me a cookbook she got for Christmas in 2008. The name of it is JUST IN TIME. Page 80, Panzanella Stoup..........I decided to make this today. I cannot seem to be able to cut and paste the recipe into this blog, so here is the URL.

www.rachaelray.com/recipe.php?recipe.php_id+1201

It is very good, thick rich and tasty.

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Very cold out today, the kind of day you like to stay inside, but when I looked in the mirror this morning I knew it was time to do something about my hair. So, I went and had it permed and trimmed. Then I did grocery shopping.

I purchased ingredients to try two of Rachael Ray's recipes.

I picked up a pizza and a piece of cheescake at the Undercover Eggplant for lunch.

Getting Caught Up.......

Last Friday, short outing with Luckless, you can read it about on my other blog.

Nothing over the weekend but cleaning and laundry.

Today, I picked up Judy and we went to Worcester for lunch. It rained most of
the day.

Christa and Otilio had their interview today in Albany, but I have not heard anything yet.

I just finished the book IN MY HANDS, by Irene Gut Opdyke. She was a holocaust rescuer.
Its a wonderful book, I strongly recommend it.

Everyday stuff

I have been ignoring this blog for a few days. I will go back to last Saturday, the 16th. That day I went to Delhi with my friend Leslie, and we geocached, had lunch, hiked and generally looked around. Sunday the 17th I went to church and then out to lunch with my friend Vera and her grandson, Josh. Josh told the story of how he hacked into his schools computer and changed his grades to 100, which is why he is suspended from school. The plans were for me to have lunch with Christa on Monday, to celebrate her birthday but I could not get hold of her by phone. Tuesday and Wednesday I worked at Family Services. Today, I went into town and met up with my friend Connie for a walk at Wilber Park, a visit to the local art gallery, then to an auction house and then to a salvage place. Pictures are available on my flickr account and a more detailed account of the day are on my other blog.

Everyday stuff

Yesterday was a fun day. Luckless and I went on an "expedition" which included hiking, geocaching, lunch out and I took a lot of pictures. You can read about it in my other blog. Boy, was I tired last night.

Today is Carrie's and Christa's birthday. Carrie turned 34 and Christa is turning 25. I dropped Christa's birthday present off at THE FIESTA yesterday after I returned to Oneonta. Then she and I talked on the phone and decided to go out to lunch together on Monday to celebrate her birthday.

Church today, and then I had lunch out with my friend Vera, and her grandson Josh. Then I shopped for and purchased a few birthday items for Carrie.

Everyday stuff

Yesterday, I put together a small album of Christmas pictures. Christa and Otilio need it to take to Albany when they go for their interview on the 25th. Instead of throwing away the Christmas cards I received, I used parts of them to fill in the empty pages in the album.

Today, I had a dentist appointment first thing. No problems or cavities. Then I ran a couple of errands (took books back to library and dropped off some paperwork for Kim at the shelter). Then I went to see the movie AVATAR, which is very good.

It feels kinda like a heat wave here, its in the low thirties and the sun was out for part of the day.

January 11, 2010

Long and busy day, and I am really worn out. I had asked my friend Carol to accompany Carrie and I to Cooperstown for Carrie's medical appointment. She agreed, but then we decided to make a day of it. She arrived before eleven a.m. and followed me to Value Motors. I dropped my mini van off since I thought I had a radiator leak and it had started to steer really hard. It was actually a struggle getting the van over to the shop, the steering was so hard.

After we dropped it off, we stopped for gas and then we went to the FIESTA MEXICAN GRILL for lunch. I didn't know that Christa would be working, but she was. They have a new menu. This was quite an experience for Carol since its the first Mexican food she has ever had (Taco Bell does not count). The new menu offers lunch items at a smaller price for smaller portions. We ordered two different dishes and shared them, and both were absolutely delicious! The restaurant was quiet and I took that opportunity to take some pictures of Christa, Otilio and Christa took a picture of Otilio's friend, Roberto. The picture attached is a picture of Christa at the FIESTA.

After lunch we did a bit of shopping at a nearby consignment shop and FAMILY DOLLAR, and then we picked Carrie up and went to Cooperstown for her medical appointment. We arrived back at my house around five p.m. I am really worn out. I am glad I have leftovers from the UNDERCOVER EGGPLANT for supper tonight.

I am really worn out

Sunday the tenth

Nothing exciting today. Church was good. Pastor talked about how in every situation we have the opportunity to serve. I had a craving for fried chicken and I do not fix that at home, so I stopped at KFC and got a three piece meal to take home for lunch. Also, I stopped at WalGreens and ordered some prints of pictures.

Saturday, January 10, 2009

Nothing special today except the sun was shining and it stopped snowing after several days of relentless light snow. I went out and cleaned off my minivan and started it up and drove it for a minute or two. When I moved it, I noticed a greenish-yellow spot under it. Oh Oh....I called Mike and arranged to bring it in Monday morning. Also, it seems to steer very hard.

Onion soup in the crockpot for supper.

I ordered a second new birth certificate for Christa. Otilio and Christa have an appointment in Albany on the 25th for an "interview". They also need copies of the Christmas pictures I took.
They turned out lousy, but I will get copies made. Here is one of the two of them. Christa had just opened a gift from me...a scarf. Maybe I can go to Walmart tomorrow after church and order the pictures.

January 8, 2009 New Blog

I decided to start a second blog. The first one is for adventures, exploring, geocaching and fun things. This one is just an account of my everyday activities.

Today (Friday, the 8th) I stayed home most of the day, doing laundry and basically just puttering around the house. Later on, I decided to go out and run a few errands. I went to the library and picked up several books and three DVDs and also I picked up supper at UnderCover Eggplant.....one of my favorite restaurants.
